Ok, Well I finally got some free time to post some pictures of my homemade acoustic guitar project. At this time it is not complete but I will post everything that I have so far. I will also add a few videos to help you out.
Why did I decide to build an acoustic guitar? Well I guess if you know me at all then you probably wouldn’t be asking that question
Basically I enjoy playing the guitar, and wanted to make a guitar that would suit my own needs. I wanted a guitar that was made from solid woods, and had some really nice detail and character. So….. Why not build it yourself right? I always have said that homemade is better! (not always cheaper though )
I have to say that so far this has been one of the most rewarding projects that have done. Although it is not complete, it is complete enough that I really feel a sense of accomplishment.
Anyway….. enough with the rambling let’s get to the Build. I hope to explain enough that you will be able to take this project on and learn how to make an acoustic guitar for yourself.
I will List below a list of materials and where I aquired those materials.
Maple for Back, Sides and Neck – From a local mill that saws and kiln dries there own hardwood
Sitka Spruce for the top – Seller on Ebay ( I bought enough for 2 guitars)
Purple heart wood for detailing on the neck – East Coast Specialty Hardwoods
