Carriage overview

 

 

 This is the foot of the carriage made from 4″ X 1 1/2″ Steel Channel.  2 pcs 32″ long.

Wheels:  You can use whatever you have on hand or can easily source for V-Groove Wheels.   The size is not important as we can compensate for this later on in the build. (When building the platform that the logs will sit on.

Next is the Carriage leg made from 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ steel square tube (3/16″ wall thickness)  cut to 44″ in length.

    So another question… I’m about to cut steel for the carriage. I noticed your styles are 3’8″. It seems short when you factor 8 ” of 4×4″ tubing abovrnit as well as half the diameter of the tire… What’s the biggest diatmer log you can cut? Seems like about two feet? Any reason you didn’t build with longer styles to raise it higher? Thanks! I have my brackets and bearings mounted up and all parts ready to go! :-)

      No reason that I did not build it bigger. The logs I had were for the most part 12-18″ diameter. I would definitely go bigger next time as the cost does not change much.
